Federal Immigrant Investor Program


The FIIP seeks to attract experienced business people to Canada to support the development of the Canadian economy. The Investor program offers many advantages such as a relatively short processing time and no obligation to be actively involved in a business or to guarantee jobs in Canada .

The successful applicant, his spouse as well as their dependent children will obtain a Permanent Resident visa. After three years of residence in Canada, the family can apply for a Canadian passport.

Dependent children must:

Be under the age of 22 and not a spouse or common-law partner; or,
Depend on the financial support of a parent and be enrolled and in attendance as a full-time student in an accredited post secondary institution or pursuing full-time skills training since before the age of 22;
Depend substantially on the financial support of a parent since before the age of 22 and be unable to provide for themselves due to a physical or mental condition.

To be qualified, the business person must:

1. Have at least two years of business management experience*;

2. Have a minimum net worth of $1,600,000 obtained legally;

3. Make a 5-year $800,000 risk-free investment ¨C financing options are available.

4. Pass a medical exam and criminal check

*Business Management Experience

Business Management Experience may have been acquired through one of the three following situations:

1.Two one-year periods of experience in the management and the control of a percentage of equity of a business within the last five years;

2.Two one-year periods of experience in the management of at least five full-time employees per year within the last five years;

3.A combination of a one-year period of experience as described in paragraph 1 and a one-year period of experience as described in paragraph 2.
